Serial And Mass Murder

There is mass murder, which is when their are many fatalities from an event at one time. Serial murder is when one person kills many people but with a cooling off period between kills. Robert Pickton is an example of a serial killer. He was a Canadian serial killer. he used to bring sex trade workers from Vancouver back to "piggy's palace" he would then rape them and later kill them. To cover up the murder he would feed their remains to his pigs. These murders were mission oriented. Meaning that he thought by killing these men and women he was making the world a better place. He killed somewhere between 6 and 49 people. I think that there will always be people like this who do sick and twisted things. One way things like this could be stopped is if the ladies had more protection. By that I mean there would be more people looking out for them. The victims are not to blame for what happened to them but if they were in a safer place they could have been saved. The other kind...

Auto Theft

There are several reasons why someone may steal a car, but it can be a different reason for everyone due to their circumstances. Some people may steal a car to re sell it, others may want to take a joy ride, and some people need them to escape. In 2017 the most commonly stolen cars in Canada were, 2015 Lexus GX450, and ford f350s. I think that these cars were most commonly stolen because they blend it, they are very common vehicles. One of the reasons the f350 is stolen is for the engine.  Alberta has the highest auto theft rates in all of Canada, and Prince Edwards Island has the lowest rates in Canada. Auto theft recovery rates in Canada are now at 72% that is 1% more then last year. The change of getting your car stolen will always be prevalent, but there are some ways to help your chances of it not being stolen. Always lock your car when you get out of it, and take your keys with you. This helps because in order for someone to steal it they would have to break in and this cause...

A Good Burglar

Most burglars are white males under the age of 25. They usually commit the crimes without using any violence and it usually happens during the daytime in the warmer months of the year. To be a successful burglar you have to be, calm and you cant crack under the pressure. They are usually very good at acting to obtain their characters. As well as this they are very charismatic. Although people can make is as a burglar as a professional career it is not the same as a doctor or as a lawyer. You have to go to school for many years to be either of those profession and you must pay tens of thousands of dollars to pay for the schooling to become such thing. But to become a professional criminal you don't have to go to school nor must you pay to learn it. You have to learn the tricks of the trade through other criminals. There are risks in all of the careers but by being a doctor or a lawyer you are responsible for other peoples lives, but as a burglar if you get caught it is your ass on t...

Are Schools Safe?

I think that depending on what school you go to and who you are plays a roll in how safe or how unsafe a school can be. Although it sounds sad and unfair. The smaller younger kids are more likely to get pushed around and picked on. I think that overall schools are safe here in Canada. Most schools are made very well aware of bullying and they try to keep an eye out for it. Compared to schools in the united states with all the shootings schools here are deemed to be safer.  Bullying is one of the main reasons a school is unsafe. because kids are mean they can bully and make others feel useless. There are teachers who can help you when you need it. for young people being at school can be a good thing, they are in a semi controlled environment for 8 hours each day. It is better then them walking around or doing who knows what in an unsafe place. Although not all schools are as good and as welcoming as they could be they are a good place to be to help prepare yourself for the future.

Impacts on Victims

When you are a victim of crime that never just goes away. That is something that you a carry with you for the rest of your live. When a crime is first done to you you may feel confused and angry. When you talk to people about it like the cops you are forced to re live that terrible day, and those awful  moments from when it happened. In the law and order episode when Harper was talking to Benson she felt very scared and hurt. Because she had to re live every moment of that night. a little later she felt very annoyed with the police because they accused her of making it all up, because she had smoked weed that same night. A few months had passed and the man who did this to her still wasn't found and arrested. She eventually moved on and moved away. She changed her hair, her look and her personality completely. She used to be a easy going, colorful person but after it happened she locked herself away. Away from the pain. She now was a bland, clean cut lady. With dead bolts on her doo...

Drugs in BC

Drugs seem to be this huge thing these days or at least they are too many  of  B ritish Columbias residents. Out of all of the provinces in Canada BC has the highest drug rates of all. The consumption of marijuana and drug offences revolving around this specific drug have dropped. I think this is because it is such a common thing in our society that it can be let aside more. Marijuana is known as a gate way drug, another reason why I thing that the rates for marijuana is going down id because people have moved on to something harsher. This brings us to cocaine. Drug offences revolving around cocaine have sky rocketed. It's all the rage for teenagers these days. It is now the number one most grossing drug in BC. Vancouver is accountable for most of BCs population. There are many parts to Vancouver and several of them are very heavily associated with drugs and with crime. In these areas there are lots of homeless people and lower in come homes. These people do not...

Why do people commit crimes?

Some commit a crime such as shoplifting out of desperation, especially when food is concerned. My theory on why people commit crimes is to fit in. Teenagers commit crimes to feel accepted into a group or gang. Same thing goes for adults. Sometimes gangs use crimes as a way to join a gang. If someone wanted to join the gang people who are part of the gang could  say that they have to go steal something from a certain place in order to be accepted into the gang. But people try to join these gangs or commit other crimes because they feel it is what they need to live. whether its because there are voices in your head telling you to do it or  there are real people telling you. The link below is an article about people who were used as slaves and then forced to commit a crime, and then got charged  for the crime even tho they did not have a choice.  Slavery victims being jailed for crimes they were forced to commit
